ABOUT US
Living Tea . Unpasteurised . Full of goodness
Kombucha is a fermented tea that has been enjoyed for its wonderful health benefits for thousands of years. It is said to have originated in the Far East where the first recorded use was in China, circa 221 BC. It was known as "the tea of immortality". It is likely to have spread to places like Russia along with tea on the Silk Road. This product has quickly gained popularity in the UK in recent years and is gaining more popularity all over Europe.
At Kombucha Shack, we handcraft our kombucha in small batches according to ancient tradition. We use ethically sourced, high quality tea, infuse only natural ingredients, spring water, organic unrefined sugar and use a kombucha culture colloquially known as a SCOBY - Symbiotic Culture Of Bacteria & Yeast. During the fermentation process the sweet tea is transformed into a beverage that is low in residual sugar with a distinct tart flavour.
Our goal is to provide a beverage that everyone can enjoy and potentially attain added health benefits. We believe in attention to detail, using only the best, hand selected ingredients with no shortcut methods. We don't pasteurise or overly filter our kombucha so that we can ensure each bottle is full of everything kombucha has to offer.
If you've come across our stall at a weekend market you will note that we also have other products available and we make more than the fermented tea kind of beverage. With everything we do, we small batch brew and long steep our herbs and roots - so you know you're getting all the good stuff.
